About Granite

With public awareness increasingly turning to the use of natural materials in the home, Granite has become one of the preferred countertops of choice for today's kitchen designer. Since granite countertops are actually slabs of real rock from quarries all over the world, no two are the same. Granite posesses a unique richness and depth found in each individual slab.

Unlike laminates and solid-surface materials, a hot frying pan has no effect on granite's mirror like finish. The diamond-like hardness of granite makes it virtually impervious to abrasions, stains, and extreme heat.

By selecting a granite countertop, you not only give your kitchen timeless performance and beauty, you increase the value of your home.

Features

  • Extreme heat resistance Unique and naturally beautiful
  • Chip and scratch resistant
  • Stain resistance when sealed resistant to mold and mildew

Care
Regularly clean your countertop surfaces with a damp cloth. Dry the countertops to avoid dull patches where hard water and soap residues may have been left behind during use. A light neutral (PHA) detergent (such as Ivory) may be used. It's always safe to use a commercially approved granite cleaner such as (Countertop Magic). Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, bleach or ammonia products. These precautions are to prevent the break-down of your granite sealant.

Cutting foods on the countertop will not scratch the granite but will blunt your knives quickly. Use of a separate cutting board is recommended.

Hot saucepans may be placed on your granite countertop without damaging the surface.

Granite should be sealed at least once a year to preserve the original finish of the granite.  If the countertop is used heavly, Custom HouseWorks recommends the sealing process two or three times a year. .
